‘Live PD’ host Dan Abrams calls cancellation an ‘overreaction,’ laments broad-brush police blame

A day after A&E canceled police reality series “Live PD” host Dan Abrams called the decision an “overreaction” on his SiriusXM show.

He also defended the popular TV show’s decision to destroy video of a black man’s death during a 2019 police stop in Texas. Details of the death of the man, Javier Ambler II, were first reported Monday by the Austin American-Statesman, which is part of the USA TODAY Network, and KVUE-TV.

A&E canceled “Live PD” Wednesday in the wake of George Floyd‘s May 25 death after Minneapolis police officer kneeled on his neck for more than eight minutes, as well as the subsequent protests against police brutality and mistreatment of black people.
